“KAYANAPOLI“ procession 2017
was a performative night initiated by KAYA (Kerstin Brätsch and Debo Eilers) who intived a group of artists and local students to join their project. The procession was followed by the museum‘s audience and citicens of Naples. Starting point was Mueso Madre and ended at Fondazione Casa Morra up the hill north of the city.
Max Pilger contributed performative acts, objects as well as an installation. Right at the beginning of the tour Max and Pablo Schlumberger handed out 20 to 30 sealed water bags filled up with spring water. Those were to be carried during the long walk by spectators and participants of the procession.
In advance an empty fountain system was installed at the final destination of the procession – the entrance gate of Fondazione Morra. The »death cloth fountain« installation was an assembly made of a painted shroud (300x450cm) laying above a drain channel on sloping ground. Everything was set into a closed circle including a hidden water pump. In order to activate the fountain each of the water bags were stabbed open with knives by the artists when person after person entered the gate of Casa Morra. When the fountain slowly got filled up the water started flowing and created a wet ground and floating layer of water on top of the wet translucent shourd.
